New Alternative for the Industry

A new electrolytic membrane separation technology recently developed by Electrosep, Inc, brings a cost and energy efficient method for lowering the cost of producing alternative fuels, including ETHANOL, HYDROGEN, LIGNIN and other value-added products starting with CELLULOSIC biomass materials found in agricultural areas all around the world.

The Technology

Electrosep, Inc. designed and developed the Electrolytic Membrane Technology as a means for recovering BIOFUELS and other value-added-products from effluents generated at industrial plants that use cellulosic biomass as raw material. The patented technology can reclaim products from effluents generated from feedstocks such as corn and corn stover, sugarcane, wheat straw, switchgrass, and other cellulosic biomass materials.

Products and Coproducts

The electrolytic membrane technology developed by Electrosep is specifically designed for production of ethanol, cellulose-fiber products, hydrogen, high-purity caustic soda, value-added lignin product, hemicellulose, and natural gas.

Production Costs & Low Ethanol Prices

The various co-products resulting from biomass treatment allow the Technology to be the most feasible option for ethanol production at low cost and with the highest energy efficiency available. Preliminary projections show that the electrolytic technology can produce ethanol at an overall NET COST of less than $0.50 per gallon. These low production costs could make ethanol prices drop in the future as low as $1.35 per gallon or less while providing high profit margins for the industry.
